Understanding Fungal Nails and the Role of Emtrix Treatment

As a podiatrist who specialises in fungal nail infections, we like to be able to offer treatments to suit everyone. While often considered a cosmetic concern, fungal nails can lead to discomfort, embarrassment, and even more severe complications if left untreated. Fortunately, there are effective treatments available, one of which is Emtrix.

What Are Fungal Nails?

Fungal nail infection, medically known as onychomycosis, is a prevalent condition affecting millions worldwide. It occurs when fungi, typically dermatophytes, invade the nails, leading to discoloration, thickening, and brittleness. While it commonly affects toenails, fingernails can also be susceptible.

Causes of Fungal Nails:

Several factors contribute to the development of fungal nail infections:

  1. Warm and Moist Environment: Fungi thrive in warm, moist environments, making sweaty shoes and socks a breeding ground for infection.
  2. Trauma to Nails: Microscopic trauma to the nails, such as tiny tears or cuts, can provide an entry point for fungi.
  3. Poor Foot Hygiene: Neglecting foot hygiene, such as not drying feet properly or wearing damp socks, increases the risk of fungal infections.
  4. Immunodeficiency: Individuals with weakened immune systems are more susceptible to fungal infections, including those affecting the nails.

Understanding Emtrix:

Emtrix is a topical treatment for nails affected by fungal nail infection or psoriasis. Emtrix improves the appearance of discoloured and deformed nails. It has a physical keratolytic effect and degrades the cells of fungi that typically cause fungal nail infection. Emtrix increases hydration, gently smoothens the outer layers of the nail plate and, by changing the nail’s microenvironment and improving nail surface integrity, keeps nails in good condition. The first signs of improvement are normally seen after one to two weeks of treatment.

How Emtrix Works:

Emtrix works by altering the microenvironment of the nail, creating conditions that are unfavourable for fungal growth. Its keratolytic properties help to soften and break down the keratin debris that accumulates on the nail surface, allowing for better penetration of the active ingredients into the nail plate. This helps to reduce discoloration, thickness, and brittleness associated with fungal nail infections.

Benefits of Emtrix:

1-Improves the nails appearance in just 1 week.

Rapidly restores a healthy nail colour by hydrating the nail plate while gently smoothing damaged layers with a gentle peeling effect, smoothing the nail surface. – Thick, damaged or infected toenails / fingernails quickly begin showing a healthier looking colour and sheen.

2- Patented Formulation

Based on over 15 years research and development by a team of dermatologists in Sweden. – Emtrix is formulated with a unique patented combination of Propylene glycol, Urea, glycerol and Lactic Acid which is clinically proven to soften the nail plate, allowing the anti fungal properties of Emtrix to penetrate and perform at their best.

3-Changes the nail’s microenvironment

Fungus can no longer survive. Emtrix improves the nail surface integrity and is clinically proven to have a physical antifungal effect which significantly degrades the cells of the fungi which typically cause onychomycosis (fungal nail infections).

4- Binds moisture into the nail
A common reason for the nail becoming unsightly, discoloured and deformed is that the nails are to dry. Emtrix increases hydration, creating a stronger and healthier nail surface and quickly improves the appearance of nails.

5-Non invasive

It’s applied directly to the nail, some anti-fungal treatments involve medication which can have side-effects.

6-Free from preservatives

7- Safe to use during pregnancy

8- Diabetic friendly

9- Emtrix is also used to treat nail Psoriasis

Tips for Using Emtrix:

To maximize the benefits of Emtrix treatment, follow these tips:

  1. Consistency is Key: Apply Emtrix daily to clean, dry nails for optimal results.
  2. Be Patient: Fungal nail infections can take time to resolve, so be patient and continue using Emtrix as directed.
  3. Practice Good Foot Hygiene: Keep your feet clean and dry, and avoid sharing socks or shoes to prevent reinfection.

Fungal nail infections can be stubborn and frustrating to treat, but with the right approach, including the use of products like Emtrix, significant improvements can be achieved. As a podiatrist, I highly recommend Emtrix as part of a comprehensive treatment plan for fungal nails.
